Where to go instead

For a complaint about a bank, a lender or a credit bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection
Bureau takes complaints directly at
consumerfinance.gov/complaint
and gets a response from the company. For a free copy of your credit report, use
annualcreditreport.com,
the only site authorized by federal law.

How we report

Every article is written by a named person and checked against primary sources: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Reserve and issuer terms. When a number changes, we update the piece and say when.

How we make money
